29.10.25 – 4.11.25

I made a sculpture to hold up this ball using magnets. – Finley

We made Remembrance Day pictures. We painted a back ground and stuck on poppy petals. My one also has birds on it. – Aurelia


7.10.25-28.10.25

The P2’s picked out the potatoes that we grew outside. We all got 10 each to take home. – Finley

Yesterday we made some Halloween art. We painted some pumpkins and while they dried we drew some grass and stars on some black paper. After that we made some black cats using oil pastels and we then put the cats on the pumpkins. Finally we put them on the black paper so it looked like the pumpkins were in the dark. We also made some acrostic poems – me, Indie and Aria used the word ‘Halloween’ and everyone else picked a different one. – Amelia

23.9.25-6.10.25

The P4’s have been going to DG1 for swimming. We have done 8 sessions altogether. My group learned lots of stuff like the ‘pencil float’, pushing off the wall backwards and we were also blowing bubbles to keep the ball going on the water. On the last day we had a fun day and got to jump in the water and play with floats! I had a lot of fun swimming! – Ollie

We played Times Table Bingo. First, Mr McBride calls out a times table sum and whatever the answer is if we have it we cross it out. Whoever crosses out all their numbers first shouts Bingo and wins, they get house points. We also see who comes 2nd and 3rd. – Arleigh

We were doing a Kiddy Council meeting. This is where we discuss and decide things. This week we were discussing about the newsletter, Halloween party and the climbing frame. I write all of the meeting notes down. – Aria

We were doing different literacy activities. We were writing in our literacy books and the little ones were playing Sound Bingo. Robyn was practicing her letters on Jolly Classroom. We were also reading Bug Club and library books. – Indie

It was too wet outside so we were playing inside. I was getting dressed up as a clown! – Amelia

We got a tractor for our playground from Community Payback. It is made of metal and wood. We can play in it and the steering wheel even turns! – Robyn

We had an Open Afternoon where family members came in. We gave them a mental maths sheet like we do to see how they’d get on. We also played Times Table Bingo with them. – Aurelia


15.9.25-22.9.25This week’s blog is by Indie and Finley!

The school value was happy and Finley won it. Millie got Pupil of the Week!

Aria won Artist of the Week for her lighthouse picture!

We had someone come in to do a hockey taster session. First we were learning how to dribble the ball. We then played 1v1 with a partner. – Indie

We also passed the ball to our partner. – Finley

We were making a new front cover for the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch story. My one had the basket on it. – Indie

With Miss Dinell we were playing dice maths. What we had to do was roll the dice and whatever we landed on we had to write the number down and then do the sum. – Indie

We were making dramas of different things. We all had to act out a mum tripping over toys and everyone had different ways of doing it. My group put crayons on the floor and then Ollie and I were the mum and dad and we helped them pick them up. – Indie

I was the kid in the drama leaving the toys on the floor! – Finley

We have been learning about responsibility and we made a tree. On each leaf we wrote something that we will be more responsible of. My one was helping people at the park. – Indie

We are currently making a lighthouse in the classroom out of Lego. Everyone is taking part. – Indie & Finley

Everyone in the class were reading a poem and copying the poem on another sheet of paper in our best handwriting. – Indie

We were colouring in our art folders for our art to be kept in when they’re finished. – Indie

The School Value was achieving and Rosa won it! The Pupil of the Week was Indie!

We made landmarks out of any building materials. My group made the Kelpies. – Indie

My group made the Queens Bridge. – Finley

We were making get well soon cards for Mr McBride! We miss him a lot! – Finley

We have started making a big lighthouse for our book study. – Indie

We were singing ‘The Yellow Submarine’, ‘Octopus Garden’ and ‘Op La Di, Op La Da’. – Finley

We made leaf pictures using oil pastels. We then blended it using our fingers and then we cut them out randomly and stuck them back together. – Indie & Finley

We were making pictures of Hamish the cat with oil pastels or paint. We made each cat a different feeling. I made mine sick/in pain. – Indie

I made my one scared. – Finley

We made a big Hamish outside using things we found outside! We used tyres for eyes, woodchips for the nose and sticks for the whiskers. – Indie & Finley


8.9.25-12.9.25

The school value last week was safe and Indie won it! Arleigh got Pupil of the Week!

We made posters for our book study. My one was about giving gulls a chance and not saying they’re too naughty. – Aria

We made a display for ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’. I made Mrs Grinling, Aria made Mr Grinling and Amelia made Hamish the cat in the basket. The P1, 2’s and Arleigh made the lighthouse, the hills and the house. – Aurelia

We made patterns outside in groups using natural resources. My group made Nobby using a stump, leaves, mysterious glasses, conkers and lots of sticks. – Arleigh

We were using dice and playing cards to do different math problems, for example times tables, adding and taking away. – Amelia

We made aeroplanes out of paper. We got to decorate them and we could use whatever shape plane we wanted. We then had a competition to see who’s would go the furthest. Cupcake Team won! Our one was called Fighter Jet and it was orange and it came third! – Leo

We had a fun afternoon for pre schoolers and under. First we went on the climbing frame, then we had some fruit and then we went outside to play a game of Jammy Dodgers. After that we came in and had some free play. Finally, we read a story to them called ‘Shark in the Park’. It was a fun time! – Indie


1.9.25-5.9.25

We were learning about static electricity. We were seeing if the static electricity would pull the hair onto the balloons and sometimes it did, it depended if the balloons had enough static electricity. – Arleigh

We were passing the ball to our partner but the other team couldn’t get it, so if you didn’t angle the throw right they would have to kick it or throw it back to you. – Finley

We were using the ukuleles with Mrs Bielinski. We were playing ‘Yellow Submarine’ and singing it as well. We were also using different chords. – Indie

We were making lighthouse pictures. We used oil pastels and paint to make them. My picture had a big yellow light, some seagulls and there were lots of waves in the water. – Aurelia


25.8.25-29.8.25

We are all excited for the year ahead here at Lochrutton! – Aria

On the last day before the holidays we had a water fight called ‘Splashageddon’. All the teachers also joined in. It was a lot of fun and a good way to say bye to Sophie! – Indie

Breakfast Club fun!

We listened to the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ then went outside and made lighthouses in groups using natural resources from the playground. My group used an apple for the light. Next week we’re making patterns outside. – Amelia

I made a massive tower using the building bricks. It’s name is Tower 2.0 because my brother kicked over the last one! – Aria

Our new topic is electricity. We were making circuits in groups. The 3 things we could use was a buzzer, a motor or a light. Then we put an on and off switch on it. At the end we put 2 lights on it with the on and off switch and 1 battery holder. – Arleigh
